Anyone wishing to support the band may become a friend and in return, periodically, friends receive news letters during the year giving them an update on the progress of the band and a ticket to an annual concert.
By becoming a friend, you are helping to support both the senior and training band. Proceeds of which go towards such things as grade examinations taken by, not only children, but adults who have decided to learn to play so that they can fulfil an ambition they never had chance to do when younger. Transport is another costly item, particularly when going to a contest. Uniforms; music; heating; lighting and general upkeep of the bandroom, are to name but a few more of the expenses incurred.
Last but not least, you are helping to keep the tradition of the colliery bands alive as, sadly, due to the demise of the collieries many are now defunct!
