27th June 2010:
Once again the band received a very warm welcome from The Bishop of Sheffield at his annual Garden Fete where they played a selection of music to entertain a very appreciative audience.
26th June 2010:
The band enjoyed a pleasant afternoon entertaining the children, friends and family of Anston Hillcrest School at their annual Summer Fayre.
11th June 2010:
Woodsetts School held their annual Summer Fayre and although the weather was not too good the event went ahead inside the school. The band closed the event with a 30 minute concert which included hit songs from Disney Films for the younger members of the audience and popular Beatles hits for the entertainment of parents and grandparents.
7th June 2010:
Training Band Solo Cornet player 13 year old Alex Kennedy performed in the 'Dinnington's Got Talent' competition held at the Lyric Theatre. He received rapturous applause for his rendition of 'Annie's Song'
Well done Alex!!!!!
30th May 2010:
The weather remained fine and the band received rapturous applause when they played the closing ceremony at the Denaby Miners Gala. The younger members of the audience were thoroughly entertained with the music played from the Disney and Cartoon Movie Themes, whilst the older generation participated by singing along to music by The Beatles.

16th May 2010:
A good day was had by all at the Rother Valley College open Day, where the band performed (assisted by a one or two senior band members) to an appreciative audience. The younger members of the group enjoyed their free time taking part in the events of the day.
15th May 2010:
Paul manning who plays Bb Bass with the Training Band and his wife Sheila celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary as a surprise item for both himself Sheila and grandparents their son Owen played 'Annie's Song'
11th April 2010:
The Training Band played to a large audience at the Open Day held by Rotherham Borough Council on the Recreation Ground at Thurcroft. The weather was glorious and a very good day was enjoyed by all who attended.

Despite stiff opposition they managed to carry off 2 Silver Trophies to add to their collection.
Well Done !!!!! for all the dedication, hard work and effort put in by not only the band their families and supporters but also to Joanne.
15th November 2009:
The Training Band enjoyed a fun Open Day along with the help of Senior Band members. During the course of the day light refreshments were served and visitors were invited to listen to them play. The whole day resulted in a number of new members joining the band. A BIGTHANKYOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED.
15th November 2009:
OPEN DAY
To be held in Dinnington Band Room situated on the Market Place. 11 am-2pmeveryone welcome. Free refreshments provided and a chance to try your skills on the various instruments. FREE INSTRUMENT AND TUITION PROVIDED
14th November:
Along with Senior Members, a group helped with an exterior makeover painting the Bandroom with waterproof paint. Whilst this was taking place the professionals re-fitted the kitchen. A well earned break was taken in the BBC Mobile Canteen where they provided a hot drink/ meal/salad and dessert. The weather turned wet in the afternoon but not before a good job was done by all. A BIG THANKYOU TOEVERYONE.
13th November 2009:
A group accompanied members of the Senior Band to Woodsetts Primary School and performed a short concert to the top year students, this was followed by dinner at The Red Lion and then a Master Class at Dinnington Comprehensive School.
02nd November 2009:
The Band send their best wishes for a speedy recovery to Paul (Manning - BBb Bass ) after his recent accident.
25th October 2009:
Accompanied by some members of the Senior Band, a group from the Training Band entered the Ensemble Section of the Clifton and Lightcliffe Slow Melody Contest and were awarded a creditable 3rd place. Well done to everyone who took part.
10th October 2009:
The band would like to welcome Matthew Boden-Hook who has joined on Euphonium.
08th October 2009:
The Training Band are pleased to report that they have received a grant from Rotherham in order to purchase a marching drum and harness.
15th September 2009:
The Training Band under the Directorship of Mrs Joanne Brookes-Wright had the honour of playing for The Princess Royal at Winthrop - Wickersley. The event concluded with a buffet.
24th August 2009:
A group of training band members joined younger members from the senior band to spend an afternoon at a Sheffield Bowling alley with the well known comedienne Sue Perkins and her team from BBC2 TV. A good time was had by all!
26th July 2009:
BBC TV Auditions:
Congratulations to the members who were selected by Dr Nicholas Childs to join the senior band. Welcome, also, to the new training band members who attended the same auditions.
12th July 2009:
The band participated in the inaugural Kiveton Entertainments Contest, organised by the Yorkshire and Humberside Brass Band Association in partnership with the Forestry Commission, England. Ten bands competed at the open-air venue and the weather remained kind throughout! Although not in the overall prizes, the band received excellent remarks for their programme entertainment value and were awarded third highest points. Joanne was very pleased with the performance and particular mention must go to Mark, our soloist and to Joseph. who played principal cornet for the very first time in competition! Well done, everyone!!
May 2009:
The band attended the Whit Friday Marches, entering five different venues on the Tameside. The weather was shocking and a very wet band arrived home but not with dampened enthusiasm. Although not in the prizes, some very positive remarks were received and a very enjoyable time was had by all, including families and friends!
April 2009:
The annual playing competition for band members was held at the Firbeck Village Hall; followed by a presentation of grade certificates and a quiz hosted by Paul (Manning).
February/March 2009:
More CD's cut due to great sales at "Brassed Off".
December 2008:
Joanne is awarded the Dinnington Guardian Rose of the Year, having received an overwhelming number of votes.
October 2008:
The band cut their first CD, now available from any member priced at £5.
April 2008:
Joanne is awarded the Dinnington Guardian Rose of the Month for her services within the community, cited as being her total dedication to training and conducting the band; all of which is done at no cost to the pupils or band.
