Saturday 30th November

What a cracking night! Once again the bands Annual Christmas Concert held  in the Ruddle Centre at Braithwell was a huge success.  Playing to a packed hall and under the baton of their new   Musical Director Mrs Judith Beatty,  they performed a varied programme  to suit everyone being a mixture of traditional brass music and Christmas  carols.  Solo Euphonium Mr Ken Vernon played a beautiful rendition of ‘O Holy Night’ which was followed by  Mrs Joanne Brookes-Wrights  (Solo Horn) rendition of Mozarts  ‘Rondo’, both receiving rapturous applause.  Others pieces included in the programme  were ‘Gopak’, ‘Troika’, ‘The Big Mancini’,  ‘An American Trilogy’.  Audience participation included numerous Christmas Carols the favourite which everyone was waiting for  ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’. The highlight of the evening for many of the audience was listening to the Training Band (including children as young as  years old) playing a short programme during the interval  As with all bands, particularly at this time of the year, we could not have made it such a successful night without the help of our faithful deps to whom we extend a massive THANK YOU!  All this was rounded off by a thirst quenching pint at ‘The Haynook’ managed by our ex EEb Bass player and his wife Ian and Moira Close who always make each and everyone welcome.
