Wednesday 6th November
The band recently learned that our Solo Euphonium Jess Marshall could no longer commit to the band due to work relocation. Some weeks ago he was temporarily moved in his place of work, however this became a more permanent move being an opportunity he could not miss (at least 12 months) resulting in his decision. This was a great shock to us as he has been with us over 30 years and leaves a massive gap to fill. We miss him and wish him all the best with his move.
Lady luck must have been shining down on us in the form of man and wife team Pam and Ken Vernon who came to a rehearsal shortly after our disappointing news. On Thursday 31st October after much deliberation, they announced that they would like to join us. We wish them a very warm welcome! Ken is no stranger to Dinnington Colliery Band having first played with them at the tender age of 12. He brings with him a wealth of experience having played at all levels from Championship down. Whilst Pam does not have the number of years experience that Ken has she will be a great asset on 2nd Euphonium.
NOW FOR THE NEWS YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR:-
We would like to announce the appointment of Mrs Jude Beatty as the new MD. Along with Jude comes her husband Jonathan (who is no stranger to the band or the brass band organization) in the roll of Professional Advisor. What a combination! We wish them a very warm welcome and look forward to a fruitful future with them.
